About the artist

Tenzin Tsering is a Tibetan-Filipino illustrator and 2D artist based in Toronto, Canada, known for her vibrant use of color and dynamic storytelling through visual art. Drawing from the rich cultural heritage of Tibet and the whimsical world of comics, she creates immersive artworks in many creative fields such as mural painting, editorial art, book covers, comic illustrations, and character design.

With a passion for blending traditional techniques and modern digital tools, Tenzin enjoys painting with gouache to bring a tactile and striking quality to her pieces. The bold hues and intricate details reflect a deep appreciation for both Tibetan artistry and contemporary aesthetics, inviting viewers into a vivid universe where tradition meets design.

She has created work for publications such as The Globe and Mail, The Walrus, and Rubin Museum of Art’s Spiral Magazine. She has had the privilege to work with companies such as Kids Can Press, Thought Café, and STEPS Public Art x Daniels Corp. Her work has been showcased on walls and galleries in New York, San Fransisco, Toronto, and Dharamshala, garnering attention for its unique fusion of styles and cultural narratives.

When she's not creating, Tenzin can be found tabling at local art markets, experimenting with new painting techniques, or making miniatures for fun. She believes that art is a universal language, capable of bridging gaps and fostering connections among cultural generations and hopes to reconnect with her heritage in that very way. With each piece, Tenzin invites viewers to embrace the joy of color and storytelling, offering a unique perspective on her own 2nd generation, multicultural experience.
